The motifs are derived from ancient traditions (Chinese, Taoist and Buddhist) and has a limited repertoire: stylized characters, seemingly everyday objects like books, butterflies and flowers, but also amazing animals, such as dragons and unicorns. All decorative elements have symbolic value. The most common motif is the character for happiness, shou, endlessly varied. |
